The Weingartner couple despair over the murder of their 20-year-old daughter Eva. Lena Fauch stands by them during the trial of the initially confessing perpetrator Jankowsky. But when he withdraws his confession, it becomes clear that the investigating BKA officer Lammers has made a serious formal error.

The quiet place in the gallery of the church in Iffeldorf, where Lena Fauch occasionally found refuge and listened to the organist practise, is a place she will not see again for a long time. She accepts the offer from Detective Superintendent Kuda and becomes a police chaplain in Munich. Her first assignment confronts her with the criminal investigator Gregor Hoffmann. Hoffmann, who was assaulted during an arrest, is supposed to work through his misconduct with Lena Fauch. Hoffmann is unapproachable and rude. The encounters with him are provocative and disturbing. Chief Inspector Christian Fenn behaves quite differently. He is a self-confessed Christian and is delighted to have Lena as support in what he calls the "fight against Sodom and Gomorrah". Fenn is firmly convinced that he is one of the good guys.

Police pastor Lena Fauch cares for the victims after a supermarket robbery. A police officer was shot dead. His colleague Susi Massmann did not put the perpetrator out of action. Why? Police colleagues accuse the distraught policewoman Susi Massmann of having a shooting inhibition. Is she not tough enough for the police service and has therefore failed? Two years after reunification: A married couple suspects the husband's brother-in-law, a former Stasi officer, of being responsible for the husband's interrogations. As an insurance agent, the ex-officer has made it in the "new" Germany, while the couple are among the victims of reunification and their daughter also suffers from the chemical legacy of the GDR. Gorrion is mixed up with local drug-smuggling mafiosi, that includes Lena's godfather, Gitano, their Portugese Cachero, and the strong, silent Milio. One day, Lena returns from her job to find Gorrion badly beaten up: The gang had accused him of stealing. Lena visits the gangsters and offers to help pay off her father's debt by working for them. After Gorrion forgets to deliver Lena's grant papers, a fragile emotional bond develops between Lena and Milio. When they set off to Portugal to do a job, events start to ramble.

A painful reunion could mean a new start for Anna, but the trauma of her past is set to come back and haunt her.
